  1. HDP Background

The Humanitarian Development Program (HDP) is a nonprofit and independent NGO in Yemen .It focuses on improving the quality of Yemeni people’s life through well-planned and comprehensive projects in WASH, education, Food security & livelihood Shelter, CCCM, Protection  ,health and related activities that strengthen underserved communities in all parts of Yemen with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergencies.

Vulnerable adults and children are particularly at risk of sexual exploitation and abuse. HDP defines the program’s commitment to the protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) of vulnerable adults, involving HDP Employees and Related Personnel. In recognition of the special vulnerability of children, also HDP affirms commitment to the welfare and protection from sexual exploitation and all forms of abuse of children, involving HDP employees and related personnel.

The YEHCY "Youth Employment through Heritage and Culture in Yemen" project primarily focuses on urban rehabilitation and cultural programming, addressing urgent humanitarian needs while restoring social cohesion and promoting local ownership of endangered cultural heritage.

The project combines available technical resources, trained youth workers, and modern heritage rehabilitation methodologies used by UNESCO "Cash for Work: Enhancing Livelihood Opportunities for Urban Youth in Yemen". Participatory cash-for-work programs in heritage restoration will provide sustainable income opportunities for young beneficiaries, while the cultural incubation program focuses on gender mainstreaming and capacity building.

By placing youth at the heart of all activities and supporting community-based initiatives, the Youth Employment through Heritage and Culture in Yemen project — implemented by the Humanitarian Development Program (HDP) in partnership with UNESCO — aims to harness the potential for positive change, foster peace, and raise awareness about the role of youth in protecting heritage and advancing creative industries for sustainable development.

  1. Job Purpose:

The Storekeeper is responsible for the management of project supplies, tools, and materials on-site. They ensure proper storage, distribution, tracking, and documentation to support the smooth and timely implementation of restoration and construction activities.

  1. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Consultant and in close collaboration with the Resident Engineer and the Accountant, the Storekeeper will undertake for the following tasks:

  • Receive all incoming materials and tools and inspect them for quality and quantity against delivery notes or purchase orders.

  • Properly organize and safely store materials and equipment to ensure easy access and protection from damage or loss.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including daily inputs and outputs.

  • Issue materials and tools to authorized personnel with proper documentation.

  • Monitor stock levels and report when items need replenishment.

  • Ensure that all storage safety protocols are followed, including for flammable or sensitive materials.

  • Conduct periodic physical inventory and reconcile with stock records.

  • Coordinate loading/unloading operations and support logistics when needed.

  1. Education and Experience
  • A technical diploma or certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Training in inventory control, stock management, or procurement systems is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in warehouse/storekeeping, preferably in a humanitarian, NGO, or logistics/supply chain environment.
  • Proven experience in receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking goods and materials.
  • Familiarity with stock management systems (manual or digital), and basic reporting and documentation.
  • Experience in handling inventory audits, stock reconciliation, and ensuring proper storage practices.
  • Ability to lift and move supplies as required and work in warehouse or field conditions.
  • Basic computer skills, particularly in Excel, and experience with inventory software (e.g., Logistics Support System (LSS), Helios, or WMS) is an advantage.
  • Experience in construction, rehabilitation, or restoration works (heritage experience is an advantage).
  • Familiarity with traditional building materials and methods (e.g., stone, mud brick, lime plaster).
  • Good physical condition and ability to work in outdoor and potentially demanding environments.
  • Respect for cultural heritage, teamwork, and ability to take initiative under supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and basic first aid is desirable.
  • Basic literacy (Arabic required); knowledge of basic English is an advantage.
