ABOUT FMF:
The Field Medical Foundation (FMF) is a leading
non-governmental organization in Yemen, committed to evidence-based
humanitarian and development action. FMF’s interventions span Health,
Nutrition, Food Security, and WASH, with a growing focus on sustainable
resource management, climate adaptation, and agricultural resilience.
OBJECTIVE:
FMF is establishing a roster of technical experts to support
our Water and Environmental interventions. We are seeking qualified consultants
with diverse specializations to be called upon for research studies, technical
designs, and evaluations as new projects arise.
SCOPE OF POTENTIAL ASSIGNMENTS:
Consultants in the roster may be selected for assignments
covering one or more of the following thematic areas:
Hydrogeology & Groundwater Assessment:
- Assess
groundwater levels, trends, and seasonal variations in critical aquifers.
- Analyze
abstraction patterns and water demand for agricultural and municipal use.
- Assess
climate and rainfall trends affecting recharge capabilities.
- Conduct
water balance analysis and sustainability assessments.
Advanced Simulation & Modeling:
- Groundwater
flow and transport modeling (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW).
- Hydrological
simulation of surface runoff and flood scenarios.
- Scenario
planning for climate change impacts on water availability.
Remote Sensing & GIS:
- Identify
and map potential recharge zones using satellite imagery and spectral
analysis.
- Develop
GIS maps for groundwater contours and infiltration pathways.
- Monitor
vegetation stress and soil moisture levels.
WASH Infrastructure & Engineering:
- Evaluate
feasible recharge options (e.g., flood spreading, check dams, recharge
ponds).
- Feasibility
studies for solar-powered water pumping systems.
- Technical
design and supervision of hydraulic structures.
- Assessment
of desalination technologies and water treatment solutions.
Climate Change & Agricultural Water:
- Designing
climate-resilient irrigation systems (e.g., drip irrigation, modern
farming nets).
- Conducting
Climate Risk Screenings for proposed interventions.
- Researching
drought adaptation strategies for rural communities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Water Resources, Hydrogeology, Remote
Sensing, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Science.
- Experience:
Proven track record in conducting technical research and producing
high-quality reports.
Technical Proficiency:
- For
Modeling/GIS roles: Proficiency in ArcGIS/QGIS, Google Earth Engine,
HEC-HMS, or groundwater modeling software is essential.
- For
Engineering roles: Experience with AutoCAD, WaterCAD, or solar design
software.
