Job
summary:
We
are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Project Officer specializing in sport-based
social work to join our team. The ideal candidate will leverage the power of
sports to engage communities, promote social inclusion, and address social
challenges. The Project Officer will design, implement, and manage programs
that use sports as a tool to foster personal development, well-being, and
positive social change.
Key
Responsibilities:
1.
Program Development and Implementation:
- Design and deliver sport-based initiatives targeting vulnerable or
marginalized groups.
- Plan, organize, and manage sports events, workshops, and training
sessions.
- Integrate social work practices into sport-based programs to
address community needs.
2.
Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community members,
local organizations, schools, and stakeholders.
- Facilitate the active participation of individuals from diverse
backgrounds in sports activities.
- Conduct community assessments to identify specific needs and
opportunities for intervention.
3.
Support and Mentorship:
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and psychosocial support to program
participants.
- Foster personal and social development through coaching,
team-building, and life skills training.
- Address behavioural, emotional, and social challenges through
one-on-one or group support.
4.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Establish performance indicators to evaluate the impact and success
of sport-based programs.
- Collect and analyze data, including feedback from participants, to
inform program improvements.
- Prepare detailed reports on program activities and outcomes for stakeholders
and funders.
5.
Advocacy and Awareness:
- Advocate for the use of sports as a tool for social development and
inclusion.
- Raise awareness about social issues through campaigns, events, and
public speaking.
- Collaborate with media to promote program achievements and
highlight success stories.
6.
Administration and Coordination:
- Develop and manage budgets for sport-based projects.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure smooth
project execution.
- Handle administrative tasks such as participant registration,
scheduling, and logistics.
Qualifications
and Skills:
1.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor degree in Social Work, Sports Management, Psychology, or a
related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
2.
Professional Experience:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in social work, community
engagement, or project management.
- Experience in sports coaching or organizing sport-based initiatives
is highly desirable.
3.
Core Competencies:
- Strong understanding of social work principles and practices.
- Knowledge of how sports can address social and psychological
issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including youth,
at-risk populations, and stakeholders.
4.
Additional Skills:
- Proficiency in project planning and management
tools.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving
abilities.
- Passion for sports and their potential to bring
about social change.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including
weekends, when required.
Work
Environment:
- Office-based work with regular visits to
community sites and sports facilities.
