1. Context

2. Job Profile
Opening Sentence
The IT & Asset Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring
the seamless operation of Relief International’s IT infrastructure, supporting
staff and enhancing service delivery across multiple locations.
About the Role
The IT & Asset Officer will be responsible for monitoring
and maintaining computer networks, providing technical support, managing IT
assets, and implementing security measures to protect sensitive information.
He/She will serve as the primary IT contact for the Co office in Aden and Area
offices, working 30-40% from the Shabwa and Marib issues and 50-60% from the
Aden office, ensuring that all technology systems are functional and efficient.
Autonomy and Complexity
He/She will collaborate with diverse teams to
troubleshoot and resolve IT issues, lead training sessions for staff, and
enforce compliance with global IT policies. He/She ability to adapt to evolving
technological needs and address challenges will be essential in effectively
supporting the organization’s mission.
3. Key responsibilities
Context Background
- Ensure
compliance with Relief International’s security guidelines while managing
IT operations.
- Maintain
awareness of the operational context in fragile settings to support
effective service delivery.
- Adapt
IT strategies to meet the evolving needs of the organization and the
communities it serves.
Relationships Management
- Collaborate
with the IT & Asset Coordinator to align IT strategies with
organizational goals.
- Build
relationships with staff across Co office in Aden and Area offices (Shabwa
and Marib) to facilitate effective IT support and training.
- Engage
with external partners and vendors to enhance IT service delivery and
procurement processes under supervision of IT Coordinator.
Key Deliverables (Main Duties, with Subtasks)
User Support
- Utilize
the IT support ticketing system to troubleshoot user issues and provide
timely solutions.
- Assist
Co Office and Area Offices staff in accessing IT-managed services and maintaining
active profiles within systems.
- Set
up new user accounts and ensure smooth onboarding for new staff.
Computer Systems Monitoring & Maintenance
- Follow
RI Computer Standards to install and configure operating systems and
software.
- Plan
and conduct scheduled maintenance to keep systems up-to-date with
essential software updates.
- Manage
the IT Equipment Database, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of IT
assets.
Network Monitoring & Maintenance
- Perform
regular maintenance on network equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor
firewalls and enforce network security policies across All offices.
- Diagnose
and resolve network issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Information Security Response
- Monitor
security alerts and coordinate responses to potential cybersecurity
threats.
- Ensure
all devices are protected against malware and that security software is
up-to-date.
- Collaborate
with the Cyber Security Working Group to mitigate risks associated with
cyber-attacks.
IT Knowledge & User Training
- Complete
all required IT training and stay informed about industry trends and best
practices.
- Conduct
basic IT training and orientation sessions for RI’s staff to enhance their
technical skills.
IT Supervision
- Supervise
IT operations and ensure adherence to global IT policies and procedures.
- Support
staff in resolving IT issues and provide guidelines for improving IT
services.
- Monitor
and audit the IT Equipment Database, coordinating with the Country IT
Coordinator on procurement and assignment procedures.
Asset Management
- Maintain
an accurate asset database and monitor asset movement between offices.
- Ensure
compliance with RI policies regarding asset depreciation and
documentation.
- Consolidate
monthly equipment statements and submit reports to the Country IT
Coordinator, ensuring optimal use and care of all equipment.
Management and Leadership
- Ensure
the highest standards of behavior both inside and outside of work,
promoting the values outlined in RI’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding
policies.
- Act
as a role model for ethical conduct standards, setting a positive example
for team members.
- Embrace

4. Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Windows and Mac operating
systems.
- Network
Management: At least 3 years of experience managing network equipment,
including firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Hosted
Solutions: Minimum of 1 year of experience working with hosted solutions
such as Office 365.
- IT
Support Tools: Proficiency in using ticketing systems and remote support
tools.
- Troubleshooting
Skills: Advanced troubleshooting abilities and strong multi-tasking
skills.
- Technical
Knowledge: Understanding of Active Directory and Single Sign-On (SSO)
systems.
- Communication
Skills: Strong communication skills in English.
Desirable Criteria
- Certifications:
Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft) would be a
plus.
- Project
Management: Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
- User
Training Experience: Experience in providing IT training or support to
users.
- Language
Skills: Proficiency in Arabic or other relevant languages.
