About
the role
Overall purpose of the
role:
The WASH assistant
ensures that water, sanitation, and hygiene project, activities are implemented
effectively, professionally, and in accordance with the culture and practices
of the local population. The WASH assistant will report to the WASH TL. This
position is based khokha district and entail daily travel to the field.
Main
responsibilities:
- Following-up the field works in all sites according to
BoQs, specifications, drawings and the agreed timeframe and contact with
the DRC WASH team accordingly.
- Provide technical and professional support to Water
Management Committees (WMC) and Community hygiene Volunteers (CHVs) on
water, sanitation and hygiene matters.
- Develop BoQs and drawings for the WASH
construction/rehabilitation activities and provide them in accurate and
correct specifications.
- Ensure the availability of accurate, complete and
up-to-date information required for effective WASH program design,
implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation at field level.
- Promoting safe WASH practices, with a focus on hygiene
practices in camps and host communities, including the proper use and
upkeep of WASH facilities and services with regular reporting.
- Play a significant role in contingency and emergency
response by ensuring appropriate community involvement in the design and
delivery of crucial WASH services and facilities and by contributing to
hygiene promotion sessions, awareness campaigns, and the distribution of
hygiene aids and kits.
- Support to design and conduct the district, school and
health clinics level water, sanitation and hygiene related events.
- Coordination with relevant institutions such as
Cleaning Fund, LWSC and GARWSP to ensure good quality intervention in
consultation with WASH TL/PM.
- Facilitate the process of capturing, documenting and
disseminating project experiences, achievements, good practice as lesson
learnt, case studies and progress reports related to WASH to concerned
stakeholders.
- Ensure gender equity and social inclusion in all
aspects of WASH interventions.
- Accomplish the other necessary activities related to
WASH projects and any other tasks assigned by the LM
Experience and
technical competencies:
·
Relevant technical background in civil engineering and experience in
emergency response contexts in the WASH sector
·
At least two-years’ experience in WASH and field engineering.
·
Experience in designing and preparing BoQs.
·
Solid skills in AutoCAD, Epanet, WaterCad, MS Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint.
·
Excellent social/diplomacy skills.
·
At least 1 year experience working with NGO and/or INGO.
Education:
·
University
degree in Civil Engineering
Languages:
·
Arabic "Mother tongue"
·
English " good
working knowledge of written and spoken English"

Position Band: This
position will be placed in the Management (I) band. Reports to the WASH Team
Leader.

Yemen

be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
