Vacancy Announcement – Health Promoter Officer
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international,
independent, non-profit medical humanitarian organisation that delivers
emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, pandemics,
natural disasters, and exclusion from healthcare. MSF started working in Yemen
since 1986 and have been present in the country continuously since 2007. Today,
MSF works in 23 hospitals across the country, and provides support to more than
17 health facilities across 13 governorates, in line with our principles of

Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium in Yemen mission is looking
for Yemeni nationals to recruit for the Health Promoter Officer position:
Location: Mocha Project
Contract Duration – 1 year, renewable.
Contract type: Fixed – Term
Reporting to: HP Supervisor
MAIN PURPOSE
Implement Health Promotion/IEC (Information, Education,
Communication)activities with patients and local population to raise their knowledge
and skills on relevant medical topics.
Accountabilities
- Inform
patients and communities about MSF and services it provides.
- According
to medical priorities, deliver information to the patients and community
on specific health topics
- Implement
activities of health education and awareness (sessions in schools,
churches, community), under the indications and supervision of the HP
Supervisor.
- Under
the guide of HP Supervisor, assess the impact of activities (with
questions, verifications and behaviors observations), and report problems,
success and constraints to him/her.
- Collect
all type of information related to specific health and living conditions
of the population, in particular to identify the most vulnerable
populations to target.
- Report
to HP Supervisor: activities, problems met, strengths and
constraints.
- For
OCBA: Establish and maintain contacts with social partners, including
other NGO’s, governmental health services that can provide answers to
social problems.
- For
OCBA: Keep education and communication areas clean and tidy and
professional materials available.
For OCBA: Participate in creation of any
material needed for the activities of information, education and communication.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
- Inform
patients and communities about MSF and services it provides (including
admission criteria and where to go to if not fit into the MSF
program)
- Stocking,
arranging, inventory of all HP information, education and communication
(IEC) Materials. Non-food items for patient kits
- In
collaboration with laboratory team, facilitate blood replacement and
follow-up blood bank stock level in the laboratory, monitor the pool of
blood donors and update the list.
- Support
the HP Supervisor in the pre-testing of IEC tools where necessary.
- Follow-up
of absentees and defaulter through home visit and phone calls
- Analysing
the caregivers and staffs behaviours and act upon based on the result of
the analysis in collaboration with the medical team
- Preparation/distribution
of hygiene kits to every newly admitted patient and explaining the use of
all its contents
- Touring
with caretakers around the facility for better understanding of facility
structures to ensure adherence to IPC measures.
Requirements
Education
- Education
level in social science, social communication, nurse or teaching
- It is
necessary an internal MSF training on health messages.
Experience
- Preferable
previous experience in teaching, nursing or social work, community
mobilization.
(for MSF, at least two years).
Language:
- Essential
Fluency in Arabic; English is desirable
