Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental
organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental,
intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting
humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing
services and advice to governments and migrants.
Organizational Context and Scope:
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Field and
Programme Coordinator, and under the direct supervision of the Programme
Officer (Peace and Recovery), the Programme Assistant will support the
implementation of the field activities of the Engineering, Water, Sanitation
and Hygiene (WASH), and Peace and Recovery Units.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. In coordination with the Programme
Officer and Project Assistant, support the supervision of IOM’s field
activities in Hadramout governorate to ensure timely implementation of WASH,
technical and Peace and Recovery activities.
2. Support in monitoring all interventions, assessments and
activities conducted by IOM and its implementing partners and contractors as
and when required, and report back on progress and issues.
3. Works closely with the Programme Officer and Grants
Coordination Unit in following up on contractual matters pertaining to the
implementing partners and support in resolving bottlenecks.
4. Regularly conduct site visits and monitor the progress of
the work of the contractors and report back.
5. Follow up with Resource Management Unit and Procurement
and Logistics Unit on any finance or procurement related matter as assigned by
the Programme Officer.
6. Regularly conduct stakeholder meetings including with the
local authorities and partners, as well as local communities and keep an open
channel of communication.
7. Regularly share field reports in a concise and visually
compelling manner documenting the project’s
progress.
8. Assist with any administrative and programme related tasks
as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- University
Degree/Certificate or Bachelors degree in a relevant field, such as
engineering, WASH, international relations, transition and recovery etc.
Experience:
- Minimum
Four Years Experience (Two for Bachelors Degree holders) in the
humanitarian and/or development sector, working in technical projects with
implementing partners as well as managing small- medium sized teams.
- Experience
working on Peace and Recovery interventions, including cash for work,
livelihoods and community asset rehabilitation.
Skills:
- Excellent
drafting skills in English, including abilities to translate from Arabic
to English and vice-versa.
- Excellent
knowledge of Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Teams etc.
- Strong
Community Mobilization and communication skills.
- Prior
experience in working with the international organizations is an asset
LANGUAGES
For all applicants, fluency in Arabic is mandatory, working
knowledge of English language is preferable.
