Your Role

The Youth Economic Empowerment Specialist will be responsible for driving the implementation of the Green Economy project. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in youth economic empowerment, green economy initiatives, project management, and stakeholder engagement. The Specialist will oversee program activities, facilitate collaboration, and ensure that project objectives are met effectively and efficiently, fostering youth empowerment and sustainable economic development.

Key Responsibilities

Partnership Oversight and Community Engagement

  • Build strong connections with local partners, incubators, educational institutions, and government entities to support program objectives.
  • Act as a key communicator between War Child Alliance and local organizations, facilitating collaboration and understanding.
  • Engage with partners, including local businesses, technical experts, and community organizations, to broaden project reach and resources.
  • Develop tailored training materials that address the specific needs and contexts of partner staff and beneficiaries.
  • Create and maintain a network of community stakeholders, including youth groups and leaders, to enhance program visibility and engagement.
  • Organize regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss program updates, gather input, and strengthen collaborative efforts.
  • Conduct outreach activities to inform the community about program initiatives, encouraging participation and support.

Project Implementation and Management

  • Oversee the implementation of the project, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timelines.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop detailed action plans that clearly define responsibilities, timelines, and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborate with local partners to develop selection criteria for beneficiaries and implement outreach strategies transparently and inclusively.
  • Support the local partner to identify and hire qualified trainers, prepare training content, conduct training sessions, and evaluate their effectiveness. Ensure that trainers are equipped to deliver engaging and impactful sessions.
  • Work with the incubator partner to schedule and conduct training sessions for participants, gathering feedback to improve future training. Monitor participant progress and provide additional support as needed, ensuring engagement and success.
  • Facilitate the Climate Tech Market Opportunities Assessment to identify viable climate tech solutions for adaptation and mitigation.
  • Assist in the selection and capacity strengthening of youth business plans that focus on climate-related business ideas.
  • Provide financial and technical capacity strengthening to young entrepreneurs, enabling them to develop sustainable business plans. 
  • Conduct site visits with partners to assess program effectiveness and gather feedback from beneficiaries.
  • Assist the Programs Manager in tracking project budgets and expenditures, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Prepare regular updates and reports on project status, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist the Programs Manager to Identify potential risks and challenges to project implementation and develop strategies to mitigate them.

MEAL

  • Support the design and implementation of data collection tools for baseline assessments and market needs assessments to assess community needs and opportunities in the green economy, analyzing findings to inform project direction.
  • Develop monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning frameworks specific to the youth economic empowerment initiatives, including key performance indicators.
  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of activities delivered by local partners through defined performance metrics and feedback mechanisms.
  • Document all program activities, including meeting minutes, stakeholder interactions, and progress updates, to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Develop in-depth reports with local partners that reflect project progress, outcomes, and impact, as well as developing success stories.
  • Collect and incorporate feedback from partners and beneficiaries into program planning and execution to ensure responsiveness to community needs.
  • Capture and share lessons learned and best practices to enhance program effectiveness and inform future collaborations.

Safeguarding and safe programming

  • Signs and adhere to the organisation’s code of conduct and child safeguarding and protection policies
  • Ensures all parental consent documents and procedures are respected and up to date"
  • Respects relevant codes of conducts and monitors that colleagues do the same.

Qualifications

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, economics, business, or a related field is required.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in youth economic empowerment, green economy initiatives, and project management, with proven experience in collaboration with local partner organizations and educational institutions.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of green economy trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
  • Proven experience in managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic, including report development, writing, and editing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including youth groups, community leaders, and government entities.
  • Ability to provide creative and interactive training sessions focused on entrepreneurship.
  • Capacity to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in communicating with youth, with a commitment to their right to participate.
  • Familiarity with MEAL frameworks and the ability to analyze data, assess program effectiveness, and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Capacity to respond to feedback and adapt strategies to meet beneficiary needs.
  • Flexibility to work independently and in a team setting.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Programs Manager
Collaborates with: War Child Staff, partner organizations, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to ensure cohesive program implementation and alignment with strategic goals.
