Role overview
The Project Coordinator Support Officer assists the Project
Coordinator with security management, project coordination and engagement with
local and national authorities. The role also contributes to contextual
analysis and follow-up, in line with MSF procedures, to support the safe and
effective operation of the project.
Main responsibilities
- Represent
MSF alongside the Project Coordinator, or on their behalf when delegated,
using agreed communications and supporting the organization’s reputation.
- Track
security, risk and contextual developments; share analysis with the
Project Coordinator; maintain security records and prepare context updates
every two weeks.
- Support
exploratory visits, assessments and the preparation of security plans and
tools.
- Help
organize MSF information sessions for staff, Ministry of Health personnel,
authorities and community representatives. Record meetings and maintain
meeting logs.
- Maintain
working contacts with local organizations, UN agencies, authorities, media
and other relevant actors. Keep contact and correspondence records current
and arrange advocacy meetings for the Project Coordinator.
- Translate
and review documents, interpret when required, and help prepare
correspondence with authorities and other counterparts.
- Brief
incoming staff and visitors on the local context, culture and security.
Coordinate regular briefings for assessment teams, drivers and guards with
the Project Coordinator.
- Remain
reachable outside regular working hours for significant contextual, security
or operational matters, unless another arrangement has been agreed with
the Project Coordinator.
- Contribute
to analysis of political, humanitarian, economic and social developments
in the project area, supporting respect for MSF’s charter, policies and
image.
- Assist
the Project Coordinator with project planning, oversight and follow-up in
line with the project plan and MSF’s operational direction.
- Follow
up with authorities on movement-related documents and renewals, including
travel permits and validation letters.
- Support
the Project Coordinator with daily project coordination and meetings,
including preparation and sharing of minutes.
- Perform
other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Requirements
Education
- University
diploma, preferably in a social science field such as political science,
international public law, anthropology or economics.
Experience
- Experience
working in a complex political, security and humanitarian setting.
- Experience
collecting data, preparing reports and conducting analysis.
- Desirable: Two
years of relevant humanitarian experience with MSF or another NGO.
- Desirable: Previous
management experience.
Languages
- Strong
spoken and written Arabic and English are required.
Knowledge and skills
- Computer
skills, including Word, Excel, internet and social media.
- Strong
understanding of MSF principles and values.
- Interest
in humanitarian issues.
- Strong
contextual knowledge and analytical ability.

knowledge of local culture and customs.
