Organizational Setting
FAO's office for Yemen is responsible for developing,
promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing
countrywide food, agriculture and rural development priorities under Yemen. It
develops and maintains relations with the relevant Ministries at country
level.
This position is based in FAO Representation in Aden, Yemen. The main aim of
the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to
assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food
security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the
agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and
natural resources in a sustainable manner.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative (FAOR),
and the technical guidance and the direct supervision of the Construction
Engineer Specialist.
Technical Focus
The National Engineer Analyst – Electricity will be
responsible for the planning, design, technical review of all electrical, solar
power, HVAC, low-current, mechanical, and safety systems for FAO projects
across various programmes, as well as FAO offices and guesthouses. The
incumbent ensures that all systems are designed and implemented in accordance
with international standards, FAO technical guidelines, and safety
requirements,
Tasks and responsibilities
- Support
the analysis and review of electrical, solar power, HVAC, and
electromechanical systems, including load calculations, wiring layouts,
and emergency/backup power configurations, under the guidance of the
Construction Engineer Specialist.
- Assist
in preparation and validation of low-current system designs, such as CCTV,
fire alarm/suppression, public address, and access-control systems.
- Support
in preparation of BoQs, cost estimates, and technical specifications for
all electrical, HVAC, solar, and low-current components of FAO projects.
- Support
site inspections and monitor the implementation to ensure compliance with
approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
- Assist
in reviewing the delivered materials for quality and conformity with
technical specifications.
- Support
in review contractors’ payment certificates, verify executed quantities,
and provide technical certification.
- Contribute
to technical assessments of electrical, solar, HVAC, and low-current
systems in FAO offices and guesthouses and recommend upgrades or
corrective actions, under the guidance of the Construction Engineer
Specialist.
- Work
closely with Construction Engineer Specialist to provide technical support
to construction engineers, procurement teams, and contractors.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s
degree in electrical engineering, Electromechanical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum
of five years of relevant professional experience in electrical and
electromechanical engineering.
- Working
knowledge of English and Arabic.
- National
of Yemen.
