the fields of health, nutrition, WASH, food security, livelihoods, and
protection.

SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and the
Health and Nutrition Manager, the Health and Nutrition Officer- Biomedical
Engineer will work very long hours to check, instill, and calibrate the new and
old medical equipment for operation Theater, Intensive Care Unit, Nursery,
Delivery Room, Laboratory and emergency department and any other medical
equipment in the targeted HFs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The “Health and Nutrition Officer (Bio Medical Engineer)”
will be responsible but not limited to:
- Conduct
the needs assessment for targeted HFs and prepare the required equipment.
- Coordination
with the project manager, HFs managers, DHOs and GHOs to approve the
equipment list based on the project requirements.
- Build
detailed technical specification for required medical equipment before
tendering, in line with the project requirements, budget and HFs needs.
- Prepare
Technical analyses of supplier’s quotation then choose the required items
in the high stander criteria.
- Coordination
with the procurement for preparing the tender package.
- Follow
up the project manager to get donor approvals.
- Participate
in the tender analysis.
- Ensure
the quality of the selected items.
- Supervise
the equipment installation and ensure the suppliers train the health
workers.
- Responsible
for the equipment accessories during the installation and ensure that all
accessories are available.
- Sign
ADRA GRNs and follow up authorities to sign the authorities’ receiving
notes.
- Prepare
the required payments documents and submit them to the operation
department.
- Ensure
that the health workers are well trained to use the medical equipment and
provide on-the-job training for the health workers.
- Monitor
the project assets and conduct periodically inventory, ensure updating of
the list according to donor template and archiving the whole documents
including donation certificate.
- Installing
and calibrating biomedical machines, equipment, and software.
- Evaluating
the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical machines,
equipment, and software.
- Maintaining
and repairing biomedical machines and equipment.
- Training
clinicians and other personnel on how to use biomedical machines and
equipment, safely and effectively.
- Writing
reports and documents detailing protocols, policies, standards of use,
maintenance, and repairs of biomedical equipment, machines, and software.
- Act as
focal point with the supplier in case there are any technical issue with
the supplied medical equipment.
- Adhere
to the organization’s safeguarding framework, including Protection from
Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), child protection, anti-harassment,
and ethical conduct policies, ensuring alignment with international
standards (e.g., Core Humanitarian Standard, UN CRC).
- Promptly
report safeguarding concerns or violations through designated channels,
maintain confidentiality, and participate in mandatory safeguarding
training to uphold a safe, inclusive environment for all stakeholders.
- Perform
other relevant duties and responsibilities required and requested by the
project manager or his representative.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s
degree in biomedical engineering (Medical Equipment Engineer).
- Proven
experience working within the field of biomedical engineering, not less
than two years.
- Ability
to work long hours, often under pressure
- Good
practical skills.
- Ability
to solve problems.
- Communication
skills, compassion and a good bedside manner.
- Ability
and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Strong
English and Arabic skills, in both communication and written forms.
- Professional
report writing skills in English is required.
- Proficiency
in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
- Excellent
time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
