HEALTH PROMOTER OFFICER
Position status: Full-time
Location: Ad Dahi – Al Hudaidah (The project is located in the government
Hodaidah operating within the surrounding districts).
Contract duration: 1 Year contract with 6 months probation
period.
Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international,
humanitarian, non-governmental organisation providing assistance to people in
need as a result of natural and man-made disasters, irrespective of race,
religion, ideology or politics.
Main Purpose
Implement Health Promotion activities with patients and
local population to raise their knowledge and skills on relevant medical
topics.
Accountabilities
- Inform
patients and communities visiting the health facilities about MSF and
services it provides.
- According
to medical priorities, deliver information to the patients visiting the
PHCCs on specific health topics
- Implement
activities of health education and awareness (sessions in PHCCs and other
locations specified by the HP department), under the indications and
supervision of the HP Supervisor.
- Under
the guide of HP Supervisor, assess the impact of activities (with
questions, verifications and behaviors observations), and report problems,
success and constraints to him/her.
- Collect
all type of information related to specific health and living conditions
of the population, in particular to identify the most vulnerable
populations to target.
- Report
to HP Supervisor: activities, problems met, strengths and
constraints.
- Participate
in creation of any material needed for the activities of information,
education and communication.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
- -
Implement Health Promotion activities in all PHCCs in alignment with MSF
medical priorities.
- -
Supervise, coach, and support health workers stationed at each PHCC
providing adapted HP tools.
- -
Ensure consistent and accurate health messaging across all locations.
- -
Collect and report HP activity data, ensuring timely submission of weekly
and monthly reports.
- -
Support outbreak preparedness and response activities.
- -
Participate with HP supervisor for preparing trainings based on the need
assessment.
- -
Support and follow up tracing ATFC\NCD clinic defaulters by HWs at PHCC in
the local level.

Support HP supervisor in implementing quantitative and qualitative
analysis (FGD, individual interviews, extra).
- -
Maintain communication with PHCC teams and contribute to improving patient
awareness and health-seeking behavior.

Provide backup coverage for the HP Supervisor during absences or
high workload periods.
Requirements
Education
- Education
level in social science, social communication, nurse or teaching. Diploma
(Bachelor is desirable)
- It is
preferable to have internal MSF training on health messages
Experience
- Preferable
previous experience in teaching, nursing or social work, engagement and
mobilization.
- Experience
supervising or mentoring Health workers is an asset.
- NGO or
health facility experience is preferred. (2 years experience or more)
- Outbreak
response experience is an advantage.
Languages: Local language essential, English
language is an asset.
