About AOBWC:
Al Aman Organization for Blind Women Care (AOBWC) was established in 1999 as the first Yemeni organization dedicated to empowering and rehabilitating women and girls of visual disability. It targets persons with disabilities—particularly persons with visual disabilities PwVDs—along with their surrounding communities from IDPs, Host Communities and Returnees , especially those among the most vulnerable groups. AOBWC works across key programs including Education, Health, Protection, Shelter/NFIs, CCCM , FSL , WASH and Advocacy. Guided by the values of accountability, creativity, initiative, advocacy, competency and fairness, AOBWC aims leadership in the field of visual disability in human and development sides. Its mission is to provide humanitarian and developmental services and comprehensive integration of the blind in society through the humanitarian and developmental programs, consultations, building effective partnerships with humanitarian work partners locally and internationally, and gaining support for the issues of visual disability with a high level of quality and excellence through an encouraging environment, competent and specialized staff, and modern technology.
Job Summary
The Field Assistant –
MHPSS supports the implementation of community-based Mental Health and
Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities within the project. The role includes
facilitating awareness sessions, providing basic psychosocial support,
conducting community outreach, and ensuring safe and confidential referrals for
individuals in need of specialized services. The assistant works closely with
community volunteers, OPDs, health facilities, and project partners to ensure
inclusive, gender-sensitive, and disability-responsive MHPSS service delivery.
The position requires strong communication skills, field presence, and
adherence to safeguarding and protection principles.
Major
Responsibilities:

Support community-based MHPSS activities
including awareness sessions, psychoeducation, and basic psychosocial support.
·
Facilitate Psychological First Aid (PFA)
sessions and assist with structured psychosocial activities.
·
Support training and engagement of CHWs,
volunteers, and community members.
·
Conduct community awareness on mental health,
stress management, child protection, disability inclusion, and stigma
reduction.
·
Assist in organizing
community events, campaigns, and awareness activities.
·
Engage community committees
to ensure inclusive participation, particularly for women, girls, and persons
with disabilities.
·
Follow up with target
groups to ensure regular attendance and participation.
·
Support safe and confidential referral pathways
for MHPSS, protection, and GBV cases.
·
Assist beneficiaries—especially women and
persons with disabilities—to access specialized services.
·
Ensure
confidentiality and compliance with child safeguarding and protection standards
·
Collect and verify field
data related to MHPSS activities and beneficiaries.
·
Maintain accurate records,
forms, and documentation, including disability identification data.
·
Prepare and submit weekly
and monthly field reports.
·
Contribute to success
stories and lessons learned
·
Ensure disability inclusion
and gender-sensitive approaches in all activities.
·
Apply Safe Programming,
Child Safeguarding and other policies.
·
Identify field risks or
challenges and report them promptly.
· Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all beneficiaries.
Skills Required
To perform this job

Education /
Experience Needed
- Bachelor’s
degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or a related field.
- 1–2
years of experience in MHPSS, protection, community engagement, or
humanitarian field work.
LANGUAGE
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English are
required
