Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium in Yemen mission is
looking for Yemeni nationals to recruit for the EH/Watsan Technician position:

MAIN PURPOSE
Supporting the EH/watsan Supervisor in the
implementation, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting of Water Hygiene
Sanitation activities and infrastructure in the project according to MSF
protocols, standards, and procedures in order to improve health and living
conditions of the target population.
Accountabilities
- Carrying
out tasks directly related to the Watsan activities such as construction
and maintenance of infrastructures in the project according to MSF
protocols and standards concerning the operation of water supply, waste
management and excreta disposal, hygiene, and infection control.
- Ensuring
the cleaning and maintenance of the Watsan structures and, when
applicable, of the medical facilities.
- Identifying,
recruiting, training and supervising daily labourers or hygiene agents for
Watsan activities
- Informing
the Watsan Supervisor of any difficulties, anomalies, and problems that
may affect the normal functioning of activities and tasks in his/her area
of responsibility.
- Assisting
the Watsan Supervisor in Watsan data collection and reporting, as well as
maintaining updated files and records of assigned project activities
- Being
responsible for equipment, tools, and consumables, verifying that they are
safely used and maintained. Reporting to the supervisor any need of
renewal and the weekly/monthly consumption
- Follow
up and monitor the Watsan day-to-day activities, such as collecting and
sorting waste before disposal, keeping the incinerator in good working
order.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
- Conducting
regular Preventive maintenance for EH/WatSan Facilities.
- Review
and maintain the plumbing network system within the project in the
Hospital
- Support
his/her supervisor in preparing BOQ and material orders relating to
plumbing and Watsan items.
- Make
use of the safety protection in place during the making of water treatment
and preparing chlorine solution (glasses, gloves, and a mask, etc).
- Making
a correctly chlorine solutions.
- Carry
out preventive maintenance for the Dosatron and R.O. unit for water
treatment in the hospital premises and MSF compounds.
- Participate
with the Watsan supervisor in water tests monthly and quarterly.
- Make
FRC checked daily with EH/Watsan Sup or alone using a pool tester record
all value you tested.
- Check
the turbidity at least once per month with the Watsan supervisor or alone.
- Carry
out the preventive maintenance for the water dispenser according to the
maintenance protocol.
- Have
all reported problems about the water network and sewage network directly
to his/her supervisor.
- Monitoring
water tanks fill up according to the needs of each department and checking
the functionality of the automatic system.
- Supervise
and make sure the functions of the water pumps and the auto switch system.
- Daily
Monitoring of the desludging septic tank (holding tank) in the hospital
and inform the EH/Watsan sup if needed.
- Wata
test to cross-check the concentration of Chlorine prepared for the use of
disinfection whenever needed
- Take
responsibility for the daily records tools for water and chlorine
consumption, and make sure the Watsan team has the records correctly done
for the waste weight.
- Responsible
for the day-to-day management / Operation of the water station treatment
and waste zone.
Hygiene and Vector Control
- Participate
in conduct an insecticide correctly for Rats and rodents, cats, and flies.
- Prepare
and check that the insecticide residual spraying is done according to the
technical practice
- Check
that the safety protection equipment is used according to the task
(protective clothing, materials against infection, etc.)
- Make
sure all the work materials for the daily workers have been collected at
the end of the day and returned to the MSF stock.
Requirements
Education
- Technical
certification or proven background, desirable specialization in water and
sanitation
Experience
- Essential:
Previous experience in technical work.
Language:
- Mission
working language (English) and local languages essential (Arabic).
Knowledge:
- Essential
computer literacy (word/excel)
