ABOUT FMF:
The Field Medical Foundation (FMF) has been operating in
Yemen for since 2012 during even the most dangerous peak of the conflict in the

helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or international partners to
those who require it the most, in a country that was already suffering before
the war. Today we have helped humanitarian aid reach the hands of more than 9
million vulnerable people in Yemen to help them not only to survive but also to

aid through interventions, which is why we work in almost all sectors of
international emergency relief.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
The project aims to contribute to a favorable protection
environment for refugees and asylum seekers in South Yemen by supporting
refugee documentation, enhancing coordination with local authorities, providing
comprehensive legal services, offering individual and collective response
services for vulnerable individuals, promoting community-based protection
mechanisms, and strengthening the resilience of persons with specific needs.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Interpreter position involves providing both
simultaneous and consecutive interpretation services in Amharic, Tigrinya,
Somali, and Oromo languages to Arabic, and vice versa, during various
engagements such as visits, official meetings, and conferences as directed by
the supervisor. Responsibilities also include translating documents across
diverse thematic areas from Amharic, Tigrinya, Somali, and Oromo languages to
Arabic and back with meticulous attention to detail and faithfulness to the
original text's intent, submitting the final translations to the supervisor.
The role extends to facilitating communication for individuals with limited Arabic
proficiency, generating regular weekly and monthly reports for review by the
supervisor.
POSITION DESCRIPTION/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides
simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in Amharic, tigrea, Somali,
Ormo language to Arabic and vice versa, during visits, official meetings,
and conferences as assigned by supervisor.
- Assist
in translating documents covering different thematic areas from Amharic,
tigrea, Somali, Ormo language to Arabic and vice versa with a high
standard of accuracy and fidelity to the meaning of the original text and
forward the final product to the supervisor.
- Facilitates
communication for people with limited Arabic proficiency.
- Produce
weekly and monthly reports to share with the Supervisor.
- Perform
any other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- A high
school degree, or a related field.
- 4
years of experience working with I/NGOs in Refugees protection, with prior
project management experience.
- Flexible
to field site travel and overnight stays in areas of intervention, and
willing to learn quickly and follow technical guidance to adapt to project
demands and achieve quality results.
- Ability
and willingness to network with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Experience
in providing training and support to local authorities, and a good
foundation of monitoring and evaluation skills.
- Strong
knowledge and skills of computers.
- Respect
the confidentiality of data and information
- Ability
to deal with heavy work pressure.
