Job Description:
The Protection Assistant is responsible for all protection
activities provided by the mobile team in coordination with the project
manager, and since protection activities and services are an essential part of
the response to displaced people and vulnerable groups from host communities in
the three-sector project, the Protection Assistant will identify, refer and
follow up on cases. Those with specific needs in a timely manner who are in
need of protection and shelter services (according to vulnerability criteria)
and ensuring their access to psychological, legal, and shelter services, and
providing referral services of high quality and in a timely manner, in
coordination with the shelter Engineer, and the Project Manager responsible
The Protection Assistant works under the supervision of the
Project Manager, the protection Assistant's work will be in the field office or
through field visits with the IMTs field teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising
all protection activities, mobile teams, and the protection observer team
in coordination with the project manager.
- Identifying,
referring and following up on cases with specific needs in a timely manner
and in need of protection and shelter services (according to vulnerability
criteria) and ensuring their access to psychological, emergency cash, and
shelter services, and providing referral services of high quality and in a
timely manner.
- In
coordination with the field officer, he prepares plans for the protection
activities that will be presented by the mobile team, and the landing
areas according to priority, and supervises their implementation and
completion.
- Establishing
and implementing a referral mechanism legal services - and between the
mobile team - and referral to service providers in the community).
- Supervising
the disembarkation of the mobile protection team and protection monitors,
following them up (and accompanying them during the field disembarkation),
ensuring their field disembarkation and providing protection services, and
referring cases that need protection services within the mobile team or
shelter services and referring them to service providers.
- Ensures
the consolidation of protection reports from the mobile team services team
and provide inputs to the weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and submit
them to the reporting officer and project manager as well as any other
relevant documents developed or requested by YGUSSWP.
- Contributes
to reporting analysis of protection trends on a regular basis, maintaining
an updated and in-depth understanding of community dynamics in monitored
communities including the surrounding host community.
- Effectively
represents the organization in meetings, events and training related to
protection activities in the project.
- Coordination
with (the Shelter engineer) in the project to provide integrated services
according to needs, by involving the mobile team in distribution
activities inside and outside the hosting sites.
- Compliance
with the systems, procedures, principles and institutional values followed
in the organization.
- Daily
follow-up and supervision of the workflow and activities of protection
services in the project, including the daily activities and services
provided by the integrated mobile team, and following up, documenting and
archiving all documents and supports for the cases of beneficiaries that
will be delivered services directly from the project.
- Maintains
the forms, data and information of beneficiaries of protection activities
in a secure manner and adheres to the information and data exchange
protocol.
- Chairing
meetings with the protection and follow-up team and resolving problems
related to the mobile team, if any, and following up and evaluating their
level of achievement, identifying deviations, if any, correcting them and
submitting them to the project manager and the relevant department in
(YGUSSWP).
- Ensures
that employees follow the YGUSSWP Code of Conduct, confidentiality and
humanitarian principles, and YGUSSWP-approved protection and
non-exploitation policies and procedures.
- Any
other tasks assigned by the project manager, organization management, and
the field team.
About candidate
- At
least 3 years of experience in protection services or relevant
humanitarian action;
- Ability
to provide technical support, trainings and supervision to assistants;
- Ability
to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of
clients at all times;
- Strong
written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and
liaison with external parties;
- Strong
ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, work
independently and prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple
tasks and maintain attention to detail;
- Excellent
interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility;
- Flexibility
in working overtime when needed;
- Computer
literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel);
- Willing
to collaborate with and support people from different ethnic groups and
different religions;
- Demonstrated
interest in humanitarian work and supporting people effected by conflict.

Essential qualification:
- Bachelor/Degree
in Social work, Counseling, or closely related field; proven field
experience can be accepted in lieu.
Languages:
- Fluent
English language (read, written and spoken)
- Excellent
report writing skills including editing the work of others.
