Yemen for since 2012 during even the most dangerous peak of the conflict in the

helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or international partners to
those who require it the most, in a country that was already suffering before
the war. Today we have helped humanitarian aid reach the hands of more than 9
million vulnerable people in Yemen to help them not only to survive but also to
rebuild their lives. We aim to provide a comprehensive approach to providing
aid through interventions, which is why we work in almost all sectors of
international emergency relief.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Protection Monitor will undertake full protection
monitoring activities at household and community level in areas of
intervention, to monitor the protection concerns and needs of IDPs, returnees,
and other conflict-affected people in the host community. The incumbent will
conduct monitoring using smart tools to carry out household assessments,
Protection Rapid Assessments, Focus Group Discussion, Key Informant Interviews
and other monitoring means.
POSITION DESCRIPTION/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute
in the overall qualitative and timely implementation and report of the
protection monitoring activities in area of responsibility.
- Conduct
Daily Field Visits to for assessing the protection concerns and needs on
household and community levels.
- Along
with the Protection Assistant, and support the CBPNs with activities
implementation in the areas of intervention through monitoring the
mobilization of CBPNs, provide guidance to CPBNs members who are engaging
with communities to identify vulnerable families for assessments and
contact persons for KIIs and FGDs, referral of vulnerable individuals to
legal and PSS assistance, flagging out the protection issues in area of
intervention, and strengthening FMF’s relationship with IDP and host
community leaders and local actors through regular field visits with the
aim to maintain smooth access to targeted areas and persons.
- Support
the Protection Assistant in drafting monthly work plans for the field
visits to ensure field presence and carry out regular monitoring and
assessments, and document of all IDP sites in areas of intervention,
manage contact lists of sites and community focal points to ensure
extensive and thorough protection monitoring with good outreach to the IDP
community.
- Assure
to conduct rapid assessments in the field with the protection monitoring
teams to monitor the protection needs of newly IDPs, when needed and
requested, and draft weekly reports from protection teams on their field
visits through observation and findings.
- With
the guidance of Protection Assistant, undertake training and coaching on
the job for members of Community Based Protection Network on various
protection related topics.
- With
direct guidance from Protection Assistant and Information Management
staff, utilize smart tools for data collection ensuring precise and
accurate data collection, and timely uploaded on KoBo platform;
- Assist
the Protection Assistant to organize and plan activities, provide
feedback, inform them of ongoing activities or changes.
- Timely
flag out any challenges or constraints during field activities
implementation to the Protection Assistant and assist in suggesting
suitable solutions and mitigating measures proposed or to be implemented.
- Perform
any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- A high
school or any other relevant subject or any related field.
- 2
years of experience working with NGOs, particularly in the protection
sector.
- Experience
in supervising field staff in challenging situations, carrying out
professional team management, and providing capacity-building and
training.
- Experience
working in protection in a humanitarian/recovery, complex and volatile
contexts.
- Understanding
of humanitarian principles and protection guidelines, and familiarity with
case management principles, standards and procedures.
- Experience
in mainstreaming protection concepts within a humanitarian operation.
- Knowledge
of the area of responsibility and understanding of local communities and
customary rules.
- Observation,
analytical and report writing skills.
- Good
Arabic and English skills.
- Knowledge
and prior experience working with smart data collection tools such as
KOBO.
- Readiness
to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of FMF.
- Be
available for regular trainings provided by FMF and support in identifying
staff training needs.
- Respect
confidentiality of data and information.
- Attention
to details and ability to communicate professionally and effectively -
practical and problem-solver.
- Able
to ensure quality delivery in stressful environment, punctuality and
respect for rules and procedures, and to adhere to deadlines.
- Ability
to deal with heavy work pressure.
- Documented
results related to the position’s responsibilities.
