Job Title: Electrical Engineer & Solar Systems Technician
No of positions: 1 Position
Deadline: May 5th, 2025
Duration: 1 year
Probationary Period: Three months
Duty Station: Midi Dist. - Hajjah Gov.

Taybah Foundation for Development (TFD):

Taybah Foundation for Development is a Yemeni development institution working in the areas of health and education. It was established in 1996 under the license of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor No. 25.  Taybah seeks to provide quality health and education services in partnership and cooperation with all concerned and interested parties in accordance with the development plans of local authorities.

Overall, Purpose

 Electrical Engineer and Solar System Technician. The primary objective of this assignment is to ensure the successful implementation and functionality of electrical and solar power systems in line with technical standards, safety regulations, and project requirements. This will involve both engineering design and hands-on technical support.

Responsibilities 

Electrical Engineer

System Design & Planning:

  • Design electrical and solar power systems tailored to the specific needs of the site.
  • Develop detailed electrical plans, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and component specifications.
  • Perform site assessments and energy demand calculations.

Technical Supervision & Implementation:

  • Oversee the installation of electrical systems to ensure adherence to technical designs and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections, maintenance and testing to verify the system’s reliability and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international electrical codes and standards.

Quality Control & Reporting:

  • Prepare technical reports detailing the progress, challenges, and solutions related to electrical installations.
  • Provide recommendations for any necessary upgrades, adjustments, or maintenance activities.

Solar System Technician

Installation & Assembly:

  • Assist in the installation of solar panels, inverters, batteries, and associated wiring in accordance with the engineer's design.
  • Handle the assembly and testing of solar energy components, ensuring optimal alignment and positioning.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

  • Perform routine maintenance checks to ensure system efficiency and longevity.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in solar systems, such as faulty connections, inverter errors, or battery issues for all system work on from well solar system or Water desalination station, changing all types of oils, spare parts and filters for stations and electric generators….etc.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Record technical specifications, maintenance activities, and any incidents or system faults.
  • Communicate any needs for replacement parts   
  • Due to the nature of the organization's activities, the above tasks are indicative only and are subject to change. Other/additional tasks may be delegated to achieve the organization's objectives.
  • Perform all other tasks assigned by the direct manager within the scope of the work.

Qualifications and experience

  • A university degree or diploma in electrical engineering and two years of professional experience in the electrical and solar energy fields are required.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good analytical, problem solving and organization skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to determine priorities.
  • Capable of working under pressure and is results-oriented with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Very good in standard Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook) and typing.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
