Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental

services and advice to governments and migrants.
Organizational Context and Scope:
Working under the overall supervision of the WASH Program
Assistant_RCCE and site assistants will support and provide humanitarian
assistance to persons in need.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Hygiene Promotion and Community
Sensitization:
1. Conduct effective hygiene promotion and
awareness sessions targeting IDPs and host communities in West Cost, with a
specific focus on mitigating health risks such as cholera and other water-borne
diseases.
2. Engage communities through participatory approaches to
promote safe hygiene practices, including the management of water, sanitation,
and solid waste.
3. Train Community Hygiene Volunteers and other community
workers on hygiene promotion methods, communication, and facilitation skills to
strengthen community engagement.
- Distribution and Warehouse
Management:
1. Participate in verification of
beneficiaries as required, and in coordination with the Programme
Assistant.
2. As guided by the Program Assistant and Site assistant,
support in monitoring of hygiene kits, cholera emergency kits, and other
WASH-related supplies to targeted communities in a timely and organized manner.
3. Contribute to distributions and when required to IDPs,
returnees, host communities, migrants and other
individuals selected for assistance under IOM’s various assistance programs, if
and when required.
4. Participate to Provide advice and support beneficiaries to
obtain ID cards, working closely with the Field Team Leader, as and when
required.
5. Organize the distribution site, and ordering the BNFs,
with ensuring protection principals.
6. Coordinate with the team to ensure proper management of
WASH equipment and materials, including inventory control, storage, and
reconciliation of items post-distribution.
7. Ensure that all distributions are documented accurately,
with complete beneficiary lists and receipts to maintain transparency and
accountability.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
1. Participate in conducting assessments
and surveys of sites, collecting information on overall services available,
2. Collect community feedback on hygiene promotion activities
regularly and report findings to the line manager to inform future programming.
3. Participate in weekly and monthly progress reports
detailing activities, challenges, and recommendations for continuous
improvement.
- Cholera and Public Health Response:
1. Participate in active surveillance and
case monitoring for cholera and other public health threats in collaboration
with local health authorities and partners.
2. Conduct specific awareness sessions with water vendors,
truckers, and those responsible for water supply on safe water handling
practices, the importance of chlorination, and cholera prevention measures.
- Coordination with Other Sectors and
Partners:
1. As necessary, support other teams with
assessments, including the preparations of the assessment tools and focus group
sheets and post distribution monitoring activities.
2. Collaborate with other IOM units, including Health,
Protection, and Shelter, to ensure integrated programming and address
cross-cutting issues.
- Additional Responsibilities:
1. Undertake any other tasks assigned by
the HP team leader or WASH Project Officer.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- High
school diploma or bachelor’s degree (with one years’ Experience).
Experience:
- Experience
in the humanitarian sector preferable and working with vulnerable
individuals.
Skills:
- Excellent
communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Data
entry and analyses.
- Proficiency
in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with data management
tools.
LANGUAGES
- IOM’s
official languages are Arabic, and English.
- For
this position, fluency in Arabic is required (oral and written).
