programs are supported by USAID, BHA, The Japan Platform, DANIDA, GFFO, BMZ,
IHA Canada, UNOCHA, and WFP It has presence in 12 Governorates in Yemen responding
to 8 areas of humanitarian sectors. ADRA Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen
in the fields of health, nutrition, WASH, food security, livelihoods, and
protection.

SUMMARY:
The Social Behavior Change Officer will be expected to begin
with a background literature search to identify and analyze existing relevant
research, then conduct data collection instruments, participation in training
local enumerators (both project staff and an external research team, to be
determined in consultation with the SBC Coordinator) to use the appropriate
tools
probing, qualitative methods, lead a core project team to analyze the data and
lead regular workshops to review findings and identify priority themes
suggested by data for an SBC strategy
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Social Behavior Change Officer will be responsible but
not limited to:
- Ensure
that SBC activities are implemented on time and within the available
budget.
- Monitor
the quality of implemented SBC activities and ensure that identified
weaknesses are addressed.
- Train
the CHNVs and Health workers in all SBC Trainings.
- Supervise
and support SBC Assistants.
- Participants
in SBC Campaigns under Health, Nutrition and Wash Programs.
- Monitor
the quality of the implemented SBC activities and ensure that identified
weaknesses are addressed.
- Supervise
and support SBC Assistant.
- Create/
maintain an active network of C SBC materials.
- Coordinate
with other teams of ADRA to ensure synergies.
- Support
(re) designing and pre-testing.
- Consolidate
feedback from CHNVs and other community actors and report it to SBC
Coordinator.
- Identify
and propose to SBC Coordinator ways how ADRA’s SBC activities can be made
more effective.
- Participants
with the food assistants’ team in the awareness sessions in the
distribution points.
- Monitor
the performance of CHNVs’ work.
- Report
to SBC Coordinator.
- Other
SBC activities as assigned by the SBC Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's
degree in communications, social studies, humanitarian response, or any
related field is required.
- 3
years of extensive experience with promoting behaviors at the community
level such as community mobilization or community health.
- Experience
with using SBC approaches, such as mother-to-mother groups, care groups,
EAST approach, and community scorecard approach.
- Strong
understanding with Health, Nutrition, Wash, Food Assistant, Protection and
GVB Programs.
- Ability
to train others using adult learning and participatory learning methods,
as opposed to top-down lecturing.
- Experience
with managing other people.
- Strong
communication, facilitation, and training skills
- Understanding
of the different factors that prevent or encourage change behavior.
- Proficiency
in MS Office (MS Excel, Word)
- Excellent
English and Arabic Languages (Writing and speaking) are required.
- Very
good reporting skills
- Willingness
to spend at least 50% of work time in the field.
