PU-AMI’s Context & Strategy:

Première Urgence - Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI) is an international, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious humanitarian organization which aims to provide rapid global response to the basic needs of populations affected by humanitarian crises to help them regain independence and dignity. PU-AMI provides assistance to more than 6 million people throughout 24 countries, with more than 2,500 staff worldwide.

PU-AMI adopts an integrated approach, to identify and understand the full array of the needs of the people affected by crises. This innovative approach is at the core of every PU-AMI-supported project to better target and prioritize actions, stabilize and improve the situation of the most vulnerable groups. It allows the teams to take all aspects of a problem into account, to come up with an efficient combination of solutions, which will have a powerful and long-lasting impact on the affected populations. In this respect, the organization runs worldwide around 190 projects a year, most of which are focused on Health, Nutrition, Food Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Psychosocial Support, Education and Protection activities. 

In Yemen, PU-AMI is supporting 21 health facilities (Health Centers, Health Units and Therapeutic Feeding Centers) in four Districts in Hodeidah (Al Mighlaf, As Sukhnah, Al Mansuriyah and Al Qanawis), three Districts in Raymah (Bilad at Ta’am, Al Jabin and Mazhar) and two Districts in Taizz (Al Mokha and Mawza). PU-AMI’s operations are managed by two field offices in Hodeidah and Mokha cities, both supported by the Sana’a coordination office. PU-AMI recently established a second coordination office in Aden. 

PU-AMI is participating actively in clusters and sub-clusters (health; nutrition; food security and livelihoods; WaSH) and works closely with relevant government departments.

Job Description

Overall objective

Under the Supervision of the MHPSS Project Manager, the MHPSS Consultants will ensure the provision of hotline and in person psychosocial support to all national staff in Yemen on the basis of 24 hours service, 7 days a week.

DUTIES of the Service Provider: 

  • Open individual Case Management File for each staff that seek MHPSS support during client’s first visit or call, make use of the file during a follow up visit of the individual as per MHPSS standard procedures.  
  • Manage work-related distress or anxiety, taking also into account psychological consequences of containment, and movement restriction due to epidemics.
  • Fully dedicated to PU -AMI staff only, in order to endure timely provision of their MHPSS support. 
  • Focus on basic psychosocial counseling, active listening and stress management sessions through phone calls or  physical counseling sessions, when necessary, and if the level of trauma is not severe thus deem to be manageable by a consultant.  
  • Strict adherence to Staff confidentiality and discretely manage Staff information accordingly.  
  • Identification of acute psychological distress cases and informing the PU-AMI MHPSS PM if they need be referred.
  • Provide  psychological training for PU-AMI staff based on Management’s request with support from Line Manager.
  • Provide key messages on MHPSS during epidemic and pandemic outbreak and good practices on self-care.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports  to PU-AMI MHPSS Manager, respecting staff information privacy and confidentiality, in line with PU-AMI Reporting Templates.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERTISE 

Mandatory Requirements: 

  • Education Background: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Science or similar field of studies. 
  • Language Skills: English Language skills required, excellent expertise in oral and written Arabic language is a must. 
  • Working Experience: At least, 3 years of working experience as general psychologist is required, additional experience in clinical psychology and/or other related fields will be an added advantage. 
  • Computer Skills: MS Office expertise in Excel, Word, Power-point, Outlook Etc. Additional tailored software in client’s information management and other MHPSS tools will be a plus. 

Others Expertise: 

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and under pressure. 
  • Capacity to quickly adopt to organizational culture with rigor and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong skills in handling sensitive information about Staff with great understanding about CONFIDENTIALITY.
  • Flexibility with working schedule and welling to work overtime, on weekends and on public holidays, if needed.

SALARY PCAKAGE 

Salary: 

  • This is a national consultant position, salary will be provided based on PU-AMI consultancy regulations.
